WOW November 5, 2008

Words cannot describe all the things I saw at the Obama victory party last night here in Kansas City. It’s amazing. Just amazing.

It’s a new era. I feel so disoriented. We’ve been living without hope or faith in our leaders for so long. And now suddenly we have a guy who read Franz Fannon in college and worked as a community organizer. I spent a lot of the campaign fearing to hope for a good campaign. And then the campaign turned out to be more amazing than I ever could have imagined. And now I’m fearing to hope for a good administration. Should I lose the cynicism altogether? I don’t know. Maybe at least until Jan. 20.

I don’t have it in me to be cynical right now. This has broken me down. Very unexpected. My heart hurts with joy. Virtually the whole world is rejoicing, and we get to be part of it.

Part of our job over the next four years is just to keep reminding Obama about Franz Fanon, and those books he read in college.

Am I allowed to send books to the president? I’ve got a few I’d like him to read.

History has been made, amazing.
